ABSTRACT

This chapter explores how Armstrong World Industries (AWI) leverages collaboration, process optimization, and best practice metrics to accomplish execution and implementation to succeed at digital acceleration strategy. A core component of any successful governance methodology is collaboration. Collaboration within AWI is a direct result of the digital enterprise strategy of leveraging technology to improve competitive performance and translate this strategy into tangible actions where personnel across the organization, regardless of organization title, work together in a collaborative environment to achieve the company’s business goals objectives. Process optimization is a critical component of a Strategic Information Technology Governance 2.0 model. The AWI communication plan identifies the categories of project stakeholders and the communication opportunity, frequency, and media used for the communication. Measuring the benefits of projects through a metric-based performance process is important in determining projects’ business value. AWI captures project metrics at the project team level by measuring the traditional financial, milestone adherence, and schedule.
