ABSTRACT

State Farm has launched an Information Technology (IT) transformation that recognizes technology’s role in today’s digital economy, where customers expect more personalized service. The IT transformation model implemented at State Farm includes many of the Strategic IT Governance 2.0 model principles. State Farm is an excellent example of how a large-sized company can navigate a transformation effort with executive leadership, collaboration, and a product delivery model that provides new and innovative services to its customers. The chapter presents a historical perspective of the company, its IT transformation framework, and how its transformation model aligns with the six competencies of the model. It provides a brief description of the objectives for each of the four key components: Strategic Alignment; Delivery Speed; Cost Efficiency; and Operating Model. The transformation enables IT to partner with business partners to implement technology to support business goals and objectives and help State Farm provide superior products and services to its customers.
