ABSTRACT

The term “digital health” refers to the incorporation of computer-related healthcare resources, such as software, hardware, medical equipment, mobile health apps (mHealth), electronic health records (EHRs), electronic medical records (EMRs) and many others (Dunn, P., & Hazzard, E. (2019). Technology approaches to digital health literacy. International Journal of Cardiology, 293, 294–296). This field has significantly evolved, and it has recently gained immense recognition owing to the wide range of benefits it offers especially more recently during the recent COVID-19 pandemic. For the success of digital health to be realised, various technologies must synergise and combine. As such, this chapter focuses on assessing the technologies behind the explosive digitisation of healthcare, specifically on their application as well as key benefits and any possible drawbacks.
