ABSTRACT

Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR), and not to mention 3D printing or additive manufacturing, are revolutionising the healthcare industry for both the patient and the healthcare provider. These technologies are already helping to enhance patient outcomes and improve medical education. This chapter serves to highlight some of these key areas and potential developing areas. In addition, it presents the major barriers, facilitators and enablers. Without a doubt we are only witnessing the tip of the iceberg with respect to what these technologies can do to transform healthcare delivery and the patient and even provider experience.
