ABSTRACT

Ortho-rectification is a process that orthorectifies an image onto its upright planimetry position in a given geodetic coordinate system and removes the displacement caused by terrain and distortions. This chapter describes a field-programmable gate array (FPGA)-based method for the on-board implementation of ortho-rectification. The proposed method, FPGA-based fixed-point (FP) rational polynomial coefficient (RPC) method (briefly, “FPGA-based FP-RPC method”) for on-board generation of DOM, can be divided into three modules, i.e., reading parameters module, coordinates transformation module and interpolation module.
