ABSTRACT

The research design determines the amount of control a researcher has over the research environment and guides what to observe and how to analyse the data. This chapter explains the use of critical realism paradigm, realist ontological position, and relativist epistemology to investigate differentiating conditions and success conditions in Green Building (GB) projects. The data collection and sampling approach is explained. The analysis and interpretation approaches used for interview data are explained, and a detailed account of research rigour is provided. This chapter is of significance for readers interested in understanding how the GB differentiating conditions and success conditions are identified, analysed, and reported in this study.
