ABSTRACT

A fraud allegation from a customer, later corroborated by data analytics and a review of system controls, results in the discovery of a long-running and costly fraud that angers senior management. John formally introduces Agile Auditing to the executive leadership team, explains its benefits, and gains support for a more collaborative approach between internal auditors and operations management. Senior management congratulates John and the team for the improved performance, the higher-quality reports, and useful recommendations they are delivering. After a long search, the audit committee adds a new member. John recommends some improvements to the company’s whistleblowing hotline, he coaches the managers on ways to provide better feedback, the team prepares for a quality assurance review, and makes progress on an audit of ethics and the corporate culture.
