John thought quickly about the question and realized the need to educate the audit committee on the difference between having an audit plan and managing the unit to completing it, and adopting a more agile approach where items are added, changed, and removed, as needed. So, with ESG, the social goals include supporting certain social movements, environmental goals, and the organization is governed in a way that supports diversity, equity, and inclusion. “In terms of social concerns, a lot of it centers around labor standards. It includes things like wages and benefits. Diversity of the workforce is very big too. Mitigation is the common default and perhaps the most common action too. They talked about how the Socratic Method, which was a bit uncomfortable at first had helped them develop their critical thinking skills, work collaboratively, and engage in healthy discussions. That evening the team got together, and they celebrated their accomplishments and shared their enthusiasm for the coming year.
