ABSTRACT

John convenes the team for a group exercise at the office as they envision their future state. Different ideas are presented representing the team members’ varying personalities and views of the unit, its past, present, and future. John realizes he needs to document and convey his vision, mission, and strategy more effectively, frequently, broadly, and enthusiastically by focusing on key qualitative attributes of these statements. He decides to leverage the coalition he was building at InSports to communicate his message throughout the organization now that his team was beginning to show positive results. John decides to organize a road show. John contemplates the challenge he has encountered convincing one of his managers to embrace the changes, support it through visible action, and replace his antiquated way of thinking with the new methodology; John brainstorms different approaches to move this staff member forward.
