ABSTRACT

Solid surfaces act as heterogeneous catalysts for a variety of reactions. A number of adsorption isotherms such as Freundlich, Langmuir, Temkin, Brauner, Emmet, and Teller have been proposed to explain the behavior of adsorption on the bentonite, montmorillonite surface. The derivations of these isotherms have also been done in this chapter to have a better understanding of the topic. In addition, Lagergren model and Dubinin–Radu Shkevich isotherms have also been incorporated. Origin and occurrence of bentonite, zeolites and their composition have been explained.
