ABSTRACT

The connective tissue support and connect other tissues in the organism and can be divided into embryonic connective tissue (mesenchymal and mucous), connective tissue proper (loose, dense, reticular, and adipose tissue), and specialised connective tissue (cartilage, bone, and blood). This chapter also includes a thorough description of cartilage and bone as well as the process of ossification and bone growth. Clinical correlates include neoplastic and infectious diseases.
