ABSTRACT

This chapter covers relationships in the workplace and why they are so important to our success and happiness. The chapter begins with a section on how to create a healthy work environment for ourselves. At first, it may seem counterintuitive to focus on self when trying to work well with others. However, a key point of the chapter is that being well-grounded and happy ourselves is foundational to successful relationships with others. The next chapter covers foundational concepts for establishing effective working relationships with others, followed by how to give and receive feedback, and then has a section on impression management. The chapter concludes with practical advice on how to put the principles into practice, along with real-world experiences of the author that reinforce these points.
