ABSTRACT

In this chapter, Marc Buyse shares what he describes as his pseudo-random walk through life in statistics. Marc discusses key points raised in earlier chapters through the events that shaped his career and life, including the chaotic COVID pandemic. Having owned his own company, Marc brings an entrepreneur's perspective to careers. He discusses risk-taking and sensitive topics in statistics, such as data manipulation and fraud. Much of his focus is on the idiosyncratic and personal nature of careers, including his own entertaining and inspirational anecdotes. Through Marc's experiences and reflections, we gain insight that can help shape our own careers.
