Gabe Barrett, who runs the Board Game Design Lab and also contributed his thoughts to this book, has mentioned many times in his podcast how a graphic designer, Drew Corkill, did some designs for him for free when Drew was trying to break into the industry. Gabe liked them so much that, before you knew it, he had hired Drew to do the graphic design for multiple games, books, and his website.
