ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses at first the origin of technology and its innovation, and how the hypothesis of existence of a biological and technological coevolution of homo species may be advanced. In this way, it is emphasized the important role of technology in the survival of humans also existing nowadays. It follows a discussion about the philosophical thought about the nature of technology, compared with the views existing in technology dynamics. Finally, the chapter discusses various definitions of technology and the search of a fundamental definition of technology and its innovation, through a scientific approach considering technology as a set of physical, chemical and biological phenomena occurring in its activity, and resulting in an effect exploitable to satisfy human purposes.
