ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we present two new applications of the developed models. The first one concerns the operative conditions of technology and the search of an optimum of functioning taking account of various types of efficiency (economic, energetic, environmental, etc.). That may be done defining the structure of the technology, determining its technological space, the various technological landscapes depending on the types of considered efficiency, the various possible configurations of externality and the influence of intranality. In this way, it is possible to optimize the functioning of the technology searching an optimal recipe that takes account of the various considered landscapes determining its efficiency. The second one concerns a model of technology innovation of a territory, derived from the previous model of the R&D activity, adding the presence of startups and industrial platforms. In this way, it is possible to take account of the difference between startups and R&D projects in the generation of successful new technologies, and the influence of the presence of platforms increasing available knowledge. The results of calculations with the model show well the benefic influence of startups and platforms in increasing the generation of new technologies in a territory.
