ABSTRACT

A Design Flow in VLSI is the sequence of processes/steps involved in the making of an Integrated Circuit. A custom-designed IC is also called as Application Specific Integrated Circuit. VLSI design aims to translate circuit concepts onto silicon. The stick diagrams are a means of capturing topography and layer information using simple diagrams. Stick diagrams convey layer information through color codes. They act as an interface between the symbolic circuit and the actual layout. The stick diagram shows all components/vias and placement of components. The MOSIS stands for MOS Implementation Service is the IC fabrication service available to universities for layout, simulation, and test the completed designs. The layout rules are grouped into three categories that are transistor rules, contact and via rules and well and substrate contact rules.
