ABSTRACT

Radiative cooling is very efficient given that 1 m2 of surface can exhibit a cooling power of 60–100 W, equivalent to a home refrigerator. The cost of producing 1 L of water from dew depends on several factors, one the most important being the cost of human labor at the place of production. One must also consider whether the water to be used must be of potable quality. One square meter of condensing surface can harvest 300 mm of rainwater and 20 mm of dew water in their respective normal seasons. Allowing for collection and conveyance losses of 15%, inevitable in large working installations, the potable water output will be about 272 L.
