ABSTRACT

Energy-efficient network design is an important concern for cellular operators for environmental and economic reasons. Significant amount of energy-saving can be achieved by an efficient design of the network during planning and management phases. Multi-objective optimization is a natural requirement for planning radio network. Identifying BS locations is a combinatorial optimization problem, and the solutions provided are metaheuristic in nature. The dynamic reconfiguration of RAN requires re-initialization of the BS parameters. Streaming traffic is considered where the blocking probability is taken as the QoS metric. The centralized self-organizing network functionalities such as load balancing, hand-over parameter optimization, interference control, capacity and coverage optimization, etc., are being considered in Long Term Evolution networks.
