ABSTRACT

Wireless Internet traffic is expected to grow tremendously at a compound annual growth rate of 47% between 2016 and 2021. The last mile wireless access poses a serious challenge in providing the increasing demand for high data rates because of the spatio-temporal fluctuations in the wireless link between the base station and user equipment. Since quality of service (QoS) guarantees require timely and successful delivery of a required number of packets, there is only a limited number of connections whose QoS can be satisfied for a given network condition. Accurate prediction of the QoS metrics supported by Radio resource allocation (RRA) algorithms in these networks has been studied through extensive time consuming offline simulations.
