ABSTRACT

Data can be considered as one of the major ingredients in computer and data science. Visual analytics is actually equipped with several powerful concepts like information visualization, human–computer interaction, algorithmic and statistical approaches, and most importantly, human users who are able to start any kinds of supported processes with the final goal of finding insights in a dataset. Eye tracking, on the other hand, is an advanced technique that supports the recording of spatio-temporal eye movement behavior during small instances of time, hence providing insights into the where and when questions. Using a visual analytics system typically involves a certain kind of dataset that is investigated for patterns or anomalies, i.e. knowledge and insights into the data that support the decision making. A visual analytics system is typically much more complex than a user interface for a ticket machine.
