ABSTRACT

Planning is defined as the intelligent estimate of resources required to perform a predefined endeavor successfully at a future date within a defined environment. HR planning is the planning the quality and quantity of the human resources required by the organization during the planning horizon which is usually one year. It is a periodic activity performed once a year and revisited once every quarter to assess the efficacy of the plan. Core human resources are the pillars of the organization and are employed for longer periods of time. They are experts in the domain in which the organization operates as well as the technical platform in which the organization specialized. Transient human resources are those resources recruited against the requirements of a specific project for finite durations. The attrition of employees is one aspect of HR planning that is completely unpredictable.
