ABSTRACT

Keeping the employees happy and satisfied, as a prerequisite to getting the desired productivity and quality work from them, requires a set of policies and practices that ensure uniform and fair treatment of the individuals employed in the organization. In industries such as software development where there are no blue-collar workers or workers unions, the IR department is conspicuously absent. In many instances in most organizations, some employees need to work extra hours on a working day or work on a holiday due to exigencies of work. Leaves-of-absence (LOA) is treated as a right of the employee. LOA is a very important record from the standpoint of an employee as the employees plan their vacations well in advance. Career advancement is a component of motivating employees.
