ABSTRACT

This chapter covers security for machine-to-machine (M2M) communications, home NodeB (H(e)NB), the Femto solution from Third Generation Partnership Project, and multimedia broadcast and multicast services (MBMS). M2M uses a device to capture an event, which is relayed through a network to an application, which translates the captured event into meaningful information. H(e)NB is expected to be placed in residence or in enterprise to provide mobile operator coverage, thus using the spectrum assigned to the operator. MBMS is classified into two modes: a multicast mode and a broadcast mode. The broadcast mode is one that a single sender transmits data to all receivers in a service area, while the multicast mode is one that one sender transmits data to one or more receivers. The chapter presents an overview of the key management scheme for group-based multicast services.
