ABSTRACT

Launched by the Queen Rania Foundation in May 2014, Edraak is the first non-profit, pan-Arab online education platform leveraging the massive open online courses technology developed by the Harvard-Stanford-MIT consortium “edX.” Ramia Kiessieh first learned of Edraak from the news when it launched, and she has been taking courses on the platform ever since. She has a bachelor’s degree in banking and finance, and previously worked in a bank before quitting her job to stay at home and raise three children. The DevNet team is excited to leverage the learning labs and materials for the benefit of more people at various levels of skill and experience who really want to learn about and contribute to these areas. The research Elizabeth is developing with universities has separate components, but all are focused on documenting the impact of senior and multi-generational entrepreneurship.
