ABSTRACT

Geektime was the facilitator in Israel of start-up weekends for three years, from 2010 to 2013. There were participants from the West Bank, Gaza, and all over Israel. Tech is politically agnostic. Monetizing media is very hard. The models are changing. Advertising is not advertising anymore. The industry is shifting. Women need to see, in the media, that there are many other entrepreneurs, female entrepreneurs, who are willing to help. In terms of women in the field, while we have an equal chance to get, you need to go back to the fact that in high school, fewer women are studying STEM-related subjects. Flashback to our old business, where we had these interactive, gamified rich media units living on publisher sites that were streaming in products from e-commerce companies.
