ABSTRACT

A Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and her team have 1001 tasks to do. Visual communication can help to work more effectively and to engage stakeholders. This part of the book suggests some common visualizations for the different concepts that the CISO team may be explaining to different audiences. Remember that the examples in this section are only the tip of the metaphorical iceberg. Our community has only just begun to realise the power of visualization and this part of the book is only the beginning of a long and creative journey. Other fields such as legal design, information design, and data science are important innovators that cybersecurity experts should collaborate with. Much work is already coming together at events such as the IEEE Symposium on Visualization for Cyber Security (VizSec), running since 2004119, and the annual International Workshop on Graphical Models for Security (GraMSec) since 2014120. Raffael Marty stated in his book Applied Security Visualization (2008):
