ABSTRACT

The purpose of healthcare institutions is to secure human life; nevertheless, the clinical waste that is generated in healthcare facilities includes a variety of germs that have the potential to pollute the natural environment and transmit illness, putting human health in jeopardy. Waste management at healthcare facilities is still a major issue all over the globe, despite the fact that population growth and improvements in access to medical care are both on the increase. Decision-makers consider a variety of qualitative and quantitative factors before settling on the treatment procedure that will be the most effective for the disposal of medical waste. This chapter discusses in detail the steps of the approach used to evaluate healthcare waste treatment methods. The approach used consists of two decision-making methods, namely the decision making trial and evaluation laboratory method and the compromise ranking of alternatives from distance to ideal solution method.
