ABSTRACT

Yield of a crop is the function of various yield attributing characters. Higher the value of the yield attributes, maximum is the yield. As for example, in case of rice, higher is the number of effective tillers, maximum will be the yield provided other factors (test weight, number of grains/panicle, number of hills/area) remain constant. Likewise, in crops like blackgram, greengram, mustard and rapeseed, yield will be influenced by number of branches/plant, number of pods or siliquae/branch, number of seeds/pod or siliquae and test weight.
