ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we explore the key technologies that have been developed to enhance mobility in smart cities. Our overview covers the range of initiatives that are being implemented to increase mobility in modern cities, as well as those that are being planned for the future. We examine the public policies that have been proposed and adopted around the world to support mobility initiatives, along with the common reward mechanisms used to encourage participation. Furthermore, we review the technological solutions that are being developed for the next generation of smart cities, including autonomous vehicles and intelligent traffic control systems. Finally, we consider the potential social impact of these changes.
