ABSTRACT

This chapter has looked into all the facts about polymer structure, the choice of popular materials for 3D printing, and the support infrastructure of FDM components. The molecular architectures of polymers influence their material properties for 3D printing, which also depends on how a material is treated while being printed. It is common practice to choose materials for design applications by taking into account quantifiable characteristics, such as mechanical properties, with ranges dependent on manufacturing and testing techniques that add more complexity to estimating part performance throughout the system design.
