ABSTRACT
It is common during the offshore oil extraction process to produce natural gases as a by-product. These gases consist of natural gases such as methane and petroleum gases such as propane and butane. These gases are extracted and shipped onshore. Before the gases are shipped, they are compressed under high pressure into liquid form. In this chapter, we will discuss the main principles for the safe handling, stowage, and carriage of liquefied gases.
