ABSTRACT

This chapter is one of the artist gallery chapters. In this chapter, the works of Laurie Anderson and Hsin-Chien Huang are discussed and linked to concepts introduced in the technical chapters. Included are discussions of each artist’s inspirations, drives, and histories that feed into their work. Due to the technical nature of virtual reality, much of this also includes discussions on their technical expertise as well as their conceptual interests. After introducing the artists, we discuss their works, including the following: The Chalkroom, A Trip to the Moon, Aloft VR, Bodyless, and Kuo Hseuh-Hu: Three States of Home Gazing VR.
