ABSTRACT

This chapter is the first of the artist gallery chapters. In this chapter, the works of Lawrence Lek, Mohsen Hazarati, and Sandrine Duemier are discussed and linked to concepts introduced in the technical chapters. Included are discussions of each artist’s inspirations, drives, and histories that feed into their work. Due to the technical nature of virtual reality, much of this also includes discussions on their technical expertise as well as their conceptual interests. After introducing the artists, we discuss their works, including: Nøtel, PlayStation, FAL Project, QQQ, Shiraz National Day, Delta: If Everything is Connected, Everything is Vulnerable, and Lotus Eater.
