ABSTRACT
This chapter presents various important introductory aspects of maintainability. It covers the need for maintainability, maintainability versus maintenance, maintainability’s specific general principles, and maintainability functions.
The maintainability functions covered are maintainability function for exponential distribution, maintainability function for Rayleigh distribution, maintainability function for Weibull distribution, maintainability function for normal distribution, and maintainability function for gamma distribution.
The chapter contains ten problems at the end of the chapter to test the reader’s comprehension in the area. Finally, it is added that the sources of most of the material presented in the chapter are given in its reference section. This will be useful to readers, if they desire to delve more deeply into a specific topic or area.
