ABSTRACT

This chapter presents various important aspects of maintainability tools and specific maintainability design-related considerations. It covers cause and effect diagram, failure modes, effects, and critical analysis, fault tree analysis (FTA), total quality management (TQM), maintainability design factors, simplification and accessibility, interchangeability and identification, standardization and modularization, problems, and references.

The chapter contains 10 problems at the end of the chapter to test the reader’s comprehension in the area. Finally, it is added that the sources of most of the material presented in the chapter are given in its reference section. They will be useful to readers if they desire to delve more deeply into a specific area of interest.
