ABSTRACT

This chapter presents various important aspects of maintainability management and human factors in maintainability. It covers maintainability management functions in the product life cycle, maintainability organization functions, maintainability program plan, maintainability design reviews, typical human behaviors, human body measurements and sensory capabilities, auditory and visual warning in maintenance-related work, human factors-related formulas, problems, and references.

The human sensory capabilities covered are hearing, sight, and touch. The human factors related formulas covered are the glare constant estimation formula, the decibel formula, the lifting load estimation formula, and the character height estimation formulas.

The chapter contains ten problems at the end of the chapter to test the reader’s comprehension in the area. Finally, it is added that the sources of most of the material presented in the chapter are given in its reference section. They will be useful to readers if they desire to delve more deeply into a specific area of interest.
