ABSTRACT

Smart nanomaterials (SNM) have appeared as one of the phenomenal materials to the modern world because of their exceptional thermal, electronic, optical, and mechanical properties. Unique characteristics of SNM make them striking candidates for most of the industrial applications and day-to-day life activities. Due to reduced dimensions, SNM exhibit extraordinary physio-chemical functionalities such as increased absorption, higher reactivity, higher surface area, molar extinction coefficients, tunable plasmonic properties, quantum effects, magnetic properties, etc. This chapter covers an introduction on the SNM, synthesis methods for the SNM and most suitable characterization techniques to identify SNM.
