ABSTRACT

Numerous scientific and industrial fields, including the food industry, have undergone significant change as a result of recent advances in nanotechnology. In order to give consumer foods safe and free of contamination and to ensure that the food has enhanced functional properties that are acceptable to consumers. It is important to use the new technologies. With the growing demand for nanomaterials applications in variety of areas in food science and food microbiology, such as food processing, food packaging, functional food development, food safety, the detection of foodborne pathogens, and the extension of food and/or food product shelf lives, applications of nanotechnology have been emerged. This chapter summarizes the potential use of SNM in the food industry.
