ABSTRACT

Smart textiles and nanomaterial-based textile devices are now being combined to carry out a variety of tasks including energy harvesting and storage, sensing, medication release, optics, etc. This advancement in the field of smart textiles has made huge strides possible not just in the fashion industry but also in the fields of health, military, and sports. SNM have also been used to provide antibacterial, UV-resistant, electrically conductive, optical, hydrophobic, and flame-retardant properties in fabrics and clothing in several sustainable ways. This chapter discusses the creation of smart textile materials using pertinent examples and significant developments in the smart textile sector in recent years.
