ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses how AI should be treated. It looks at emerging approaches towards global regulation and the eight key themes that have emerged. It introduces the discussion on the legal status of artificially intelligent entities, which argues for some kind of definition in law in order to hold AI accountable. It then ponders the increased use of algorithm audits to examine the autonomous programmes that run so much of modern life, particularly to check for bias in either data or programming. It concludes by looking at the so-called Control Problem, which is about how best to align AI with human goals, and examines some of the modern laws of robotics that are being proposed to address this issue.
