ABSTRACT

With the development of the social economy, composite materials enhance the practical application of non-ferrous materials in production, meeting the needs of current development and better promoting the development and progress of related industries. This chapter provides basic information on the nonferrous materials and their alloys, including copper, brass, bronze, aluminium and magnesium, and their properties and applications; the properties of ceramic materials and their applications; polymers materials; the properties and applications of thermoplastic, thermo-setting plastics, rubber, glass fibre and carbon fibre. Modern materials are currently used in the automotive industry and the material decision-making process can be a tedious task, hence the business factors affecting material selection are presented in this chapter.
