ABSTRACT

The application of TFA is well-known for data compression, signal denoising, and analysis of signals and systems in order to reduce storage memory requirement and enhancing the signal for further processing. TFA techniques find applications in analysis and classification of vibration signals in order to detect fault at early stage for machine diagnosis. Seismic signal analysis for earthquakes, landslides, and volcanic eruptions predication use TFA techniques. Brain-computer interface is a system that uses signals generated from brain for direct control of physical objects without using muscular activity or body movements. The brain activity responses are captured through EEG. As speech is non-stationary signal, the TFA-based techniques can improve the performance of speech processing systems which are developed based on time-domain or frequency-domain techniques. Ocean engineering finds applications in developing monitoring and controlling system in coastal environment. Prediction of tide-level is important for construction planning of coastal harbors, structures, and biological resource management.
