ABSTRACT

The Gun control argument in the US has a very unsavory and long history of discrimination. Its origin extends all the way back to shortly after the Civil War when the first restrictive gun control legislation was enacted. The laws were aimed at ensuring the newly freed slaves would not have an effective way to defend themselves, and thus, could not fight for their legal and constitutional rights. Leveraging microelectronic and AI software, the weapon can sense if someone other than the owner is trying to pull the trigger and render the gun unshootable. Hundreds of thousands of guns are stolen every year, taken from houses, vehicles, stores, and even people. Stolen guns are often recovered at scenes of homicides and other violent crimes. Gun rights organizations and lobbyists such as the National Rifle Association (NRA) and National Shooting Sports Association (NSSA), alongside gun manufacturers, aren’t particularly champing to solve the problem.
