ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on the role of renewable energy in Polish energy sector. The resources, perspectives and use of RES are characterised in detail and divided into the main groups of solar energy, hydropower, wind power, geothermal power and biomass. The problems presented in this chapter constitute a thorough analysis of the perspectives of RES, extended to include elements of civic energy development. It should be emphasised that the selection of problems included in this chapter is not random, as only responsible use of the energy mix will guarantee access to cheap, and above all, green energy.
