ABSTRACT

Surface monitoring by Earth observation satellites can be crucial for investigating details about agricultural, urban targets, and conducting technical forensics in some situations. The objective of this chapter is to obtain remote sensing data and perform a preliminary mapping of this data at a location of interest with image processing software. CBERS-04A data are used to provide images with 2 m panoramic resolution and 8m multispectral resolution simultaneously. By processing the images and mapping the results it is possible to monitor Earth's surface with free, very high spatial resolution remote sensing data and visualize details of urban buildings and natural targets in the region of the Funil dam, such as vegetation and water.
