ABSTRACT
Remote sensing applications can be presented under different contexts. Principles of the scientific method of remote sensing and digital image processing for project design are emphasized in order to demonstrate how knowledge for decision making and solving problems can be communicated, as well as on the need to describe scientific methods in sufficient detail to replicate the work. Scientific applications are presented with example of elaboration of a project abstract in the area of remote sensing. Project title, abstract and keywords are elaborated with subject to determine water depth and surface area of hydroelectric power plant dam using remote sensing big data. Solved exercises are presented to illustrate concepts used in the preparation of a scientific project and applications that can be evaluated in scientific research on remote sensing.
