ABSTRACT

The goal of this chapter is to detail a procedure that extends the use of brainstorming to conditions where face-to-face sessions of group members are not necessary. The Delphi method for problem solving is introduced in detail. The advantages and disadvantages of the Delphi method are summarized. Alternatives that can increase the efficiency of the Delphi method are presented. Situations where the Delphi method is most useful are discussed. The use of the Delphi method in research is emphasized. The chapter includes 16 exercises and seven activities, with the activities aimed at innovations in the Delphi method.
