ABSTRACT

Concrete production and implementation in hot and cold weather conditions should be with special consideration. This chapter is about these considerations. For this purpose, first, concrete and ambient temperature and the calculation of concrete temperature according to the temperature of each constituent material are described.

The definition of hot weather conditions for concrete is the next subject and then the cement hydration reaction in hot weather conditions is specified. After that, the effects of hot weather on the properties of fresh and hardened concrete and the considerations to control these effects are mentioned. The subject of concrete cracks in hot weather condition is the next subject of this part. Finally, the useful chemical admixtures for hot weather conditions and the calculation of concrete temperature in hot weather conditions and the effect of any consideration on it are described.

For the cold weather conditions also, first, the cold conditions are defined. Then cement hydration reaction in cold weather conditions is mentioned. The effect of cold weather on the properties of fresh and hardened concrete and also the considerations to control it are mentioned in the next part of this chapter. Chemical admixtures for cold weather conditions and the calculation of concrete temperature at cold weather conditions and the effect of any consideration on it is the last subject of this chapter.
