ABSTRACT

Water is necessary for the hydration reaction of cement inside the concrete. So, the subject of suitable water for concrete production and also curing is the subject of this chapter.

It is very important to check the properties of water before using it in the production of concrete. So, suitable water for concrete production is the first issue of this chapter. The effect of different solved ions in water such as sulfate, chloride, carbonate, and bicarbonate on the properties of fresh and hardened concrete is mentioned. Also, the effect of pH, solved materials like sugar, and organic impurities in water on concrete properties is discussed.

In the next part, suitable water for concrete curing is very important because of the huge amount of water consumed for concrete curing in the projects mentioned. Then the necessary tests for water before using it in concrete production are described.

The last subject of this chapter is the decreasing of water for concrete production and curing and recycling the water in the concrete industry.
